No Extra HP TouchPad Stock Coming to the UK [HP to Make More webOS Tablets, But Not for UK Customers]

Yesterday HP announced that “one last run” of TouchPad units will be produced to meet unfulfilled demand but, according to an update, that last batch of webOS tablet is not meant to cover any unfulfilled demands originating from the UK.

Mobot has been in touch with HP’s UK PR agency and it appears that they confirmed the company doesn’t intend to ship any new devices to UK stores:

We are pleased by the response to webOS and look forward to customer feedback so we can further enhance the platform. A limited quantity of TouchPads will be available in the coming weeks in North America only. In EMEA we are discontinuing the webOS hardware operations and will not offer any additional products beyond what might be currently available in selective outlets.

That can’t be that surprising though considering HP, in its own update yesterday, didn’t mention anything about specific shipping destinations for the new batch of tablets. In fact HP made sure everyone knows that we’re looking at a “limited supply,” one that will not entirely satisfy the demands of the market.

HP also failed to mention whether the upcoming stock will sell for the same $99 starting price, but I think it’s pretty safe to assume that the company won’t be reverting back to pre-cancellation prices.

The TouchPad is probably one of the fastest tablets to be canceled, although, if you count the original, and also limited, Galaxy Tab 10.1, then dubbed as Galaxy Tab 10.1v, then it’s Samsung that wins the crown for discontinuing a tablet well ahead it reached international stores, but after officially announcing it.

Unlike HP though, Samsung went ahead to design the Galaxy Tab 10.1, currently banned from selling in various markets, but the South Korean company is carrying on its battle against Apple in the tablet business.

HP however is unsure of its tablet and PC future. Some reports say the TouchPad may be brought back to life, but if that should happen, will HP continue to sell it for as low as $99? Not to mention that Amazon is rumored to steal the tablet spotlight soon with a new Android tablet that will sell for a lot less than its competitors in a clear attempt to steal more market share from Apple.
