New iPhone 5 Leaks Say Next-gen iOS Smartphone Will Offer Thinner Design [New Images Show Next-gen iPhone 5 Parts, Soon We’ll Have the Full Phone Pictured]

We’ve seen plenty of leaked images of the upcoming iPhone 4S / iPhone 5 and we have more similar pictures for you today. In fact, at this rate, we may see all the phone’s components photographed before Apple actually announces the phone.

Today’s news comes from a Greece-based site, Greek-iPhone.com and they show the camera module with LED flash, presumably a higher-resolution camera than the iPhone 4’s, the audio cable with headphone jack and the power button cable with some of the other iPhone sensors.

The new camera module is thinner and has a round shape. The site also reveals its part number to be 00094 C6/11291 BB compared to the same part found in the iPhone 4, which is labeled 00064 C/1144LB. The camera of the new iPhone 5 is expected to be an 8-megapixel one, possibly provided by Sony.

The audio cable with headphone jack reveals the audio buttons and mute switch, and, from the looks of it they may be placed on the right side rather than the traditional left side (compare the cable with the last image available below that shows all current iPhone 4 parts). Previous iPhone 5 case leaks did suggest that the next phone will have the mute switch moved on the right side while the volume keys remained in the their current position.

We’re looking at plenty of minor, but important, design changes that suggest the new iPhone will not be as similar to the iPhone 4 as expected. In fact some of the parts we see today are nothing like the parts used by the iPhone 4, which we’ve thoroughly inspected in iFixit’s original teardown.

The parts leaks seen in the past days implied that the next iPhone will look like the iPhone 4, but if that’s the case why are we seeing contradicting reports in the wild? Of course, the only logical reason that comes to mind is that Apple will indeed have two new iPhones this year, the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5, which will not be similar when it comes to overall design, with the later possibly sporting a thinner, slicker shape.

These leaked iPhone parts seem genuine but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re the real deal and until Apple makes the new iOS smartphone official all we can do is wait since only a complete teardown would confirm these leaks. And since the company didn’t announce its fall keynote yet, we may see a lot more iPhone 4S/5 rumors in the following weeks.
