Mojang's Scrolls Gets Its First Teaser Trailer
Notch may be caught up in a legal battle with Bethesda at the moment, but threats of courtrooms and lawyers apparently aren’t enough to scare him away from promoting his new game anyway. That’s right, Mojang has released the first teaser trailer for Scrolls despite legal pressure from Bethesda to change the name, sending a clear message that Notch isn’t going to be bullied by big bad publishers that don’t really have much of a reason to be harassing him in the first place.

In other news, it seems that out little indie developer is all grown up. Can you imagine Minecraft getting a pre-release teaser trailer before Notch released Minecraft alpha? That’s quite a stretch, but with Mojang being an actual company and Notch actually having PR guidelines, the hype machine will apparently play an integral role in the promotion of Scrolls.
There isn’t much in the way of gameplay to be seen in this trailer (read: none at all), but it does look very beautifully animated and coveys the basic concept of Scrolls pretty well: you use the scrolls you have at your disposal to summon monsters that proceed to beat the crap out of each other. Sounds simple enough, and with the promise of trading card game aspects, it’s sure to be more addicting than any of us care to think about. Enjoy the trailer!
