Xbox 360 Version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Will Fit On One Disc
Make no bones about it, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is going to be absolutely massive. Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas were massive games in their own right, and Skyrim promises to be even bigger than those. In fact, you might not be far off the mark if you’re thinking that Skyrim will be the most content-heavy game you play this generation.

There’s just one problem: the Xbox 360 and massive games don’t really get along well together. Lately we’ve been seeing more and more developers opting to put the Xbox 360 version of their games on multiple discs (Lost Odyssey took up enough space to fill a whopping four discs!), so it goes without saying that Skyrim will definitely need more than one disc, right? Wrong!
According to Bethesda, Skyrim will only need one disc on Xbox 360. This may be a pretty confusing announcement for those who were thinking that they were, in fact, in for one of the biggest games this generation, but you have to remember that games that take up multiple discs – Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect 2, L.A. Noire – were all cutscene-heavy games, and cutscenes are notorious for eating up a large amount of space on those lowly DVDs that the Xbox 360 utilizes.
Either that or Bethesda is planning to compress the hell out of Skyrim on Xbox 360. Here’s hoping that the former explanation is the reason Skyrim will only require one disc!
