More iPhone N94 Parts Leak, Is It the iPhone 4S? [New Images Suggest iPhone N94 Is Rather an iPhone 4S Than an iPhone 5]

Last week we showed you leaked images of various parts of the iPhone N94, which is what the next iPhone is codenamed, at least according to previous iOS SDK leaks. Today we get to look at more parts of that N94 prototype, which suggest we’re rather looking at an iPhone 4S design rather than an iPhone 5′s.

Engadget got a new batch of leaked images, which show various fifth-generation parts that are similar to the ones found on the current, and very popular, iPhone 4. We’re basically looking at the same touchscreen display, which appears to be a 3.5-inch panel, in accordance with today’s earlier iPhone report, the same Home button and the same front-facing camera. What’s different on that front panel is:

the funny dot right next to the sensor location above the earpiece — the dotted pattern is very much like that used by the microphone and the webcam LED indicator on Mac computers, but obviously the latter is more likely the case here.

Today’s parts are from an EVT1 (Engineering Verification Test) device dated March 3, 2011, therefore older than the images we saw last week. Since March plenty of things could have been changed, assuming this are actual iPhone 5 parts we’re looking at today and we won’t be able to confirm these pictures until the device becomes official and gets torn apart by iFixit, or anyone else ready to dismantle a fresh new device.

What’s interesting is that more and more reports feature references to an iPhone 4S, a device similar to the iPhone 4. Not to mention that all these leaked parts are also pointing to an iPhone 4S kind of an upgrade rather than to an iPhone 5. Is Apple going to launch just one new fifth-generation model instead of the two we’ve been told, by countless other rumors, to expect?

What smartphone would you rather buy from Apple, a cheaper iPhone 4S or a high-end iPhone 5 this year?
