Google+ Is More An Identity Service Than It Is A Social Network

Google Admits Google Plus Is A Tool To Get People To Share Information

The world of social networking seems to be changing by the minute. The big players today may just be nobodies by tomorrow. Right now Facebook is the big guy on the block but Google+ is certainly becoming a force to be reckoned with. However, is Google Plus really a competing social network or another type of tool altogether?

Google Plus could rather be a tool for Google to convince us to reveal yet even more personal information to them. Our real names need to be used, we interact with friends and acquaintances in circles, and our data may well be used to personalize our web browsing experience.

Maybe it’s done in different ways, but it seems that harvesting our information for personalization is common among both Facebook and Google Plus. We have ads and such personalized to our likening on both services. Perhaps the difference is the extent and the methods employed.
