Sprint iPhone 5 Not to be Really Discussed with Customers [Sprint Tells Employees to Employ Various Tactics to Avoid Talking iPhone 5; Release Date Not Mentioned But Neither Denied]
Earlier this week we learned that Sprint may start selling the iPhone 5 at some point in mid-October. The fact that Sprint is in line to get the iPhone is a rumor we’ve heard before. Similarly T-Mobile was also said to get the iPhone (officially, since jailbroken devices can be used on T-Mobile’s 2G network) with the latest such rumor also dating to earlier this week.

Today however we get to look at an internal Sprint note that details ways for its employees to answer iPhone 5-related questions from customers. The company makes a clear reference to the WSJ report we talked about above, but it neither confirms nor denies it. That’s certainly an interesting approach to answer that particular report, so should we assume the iPhone 5 (as well as the iPhone 4) are coming to Sprint soon? Needless to say that no release dates for the iPhone 5 have been mentioned by the screen below.

Here’s what Sprint tells its employees in the document captured above:
Action Required: Do Not Speculate about Sprint Getting the iPhone
A recent Wall Street Journal article mentioned that Sprint is getting the iPhone 5. If you’re asked by a customer or just talking to friends or family members, you need to avoid making any comment about the iPhone and simple state “no comment.”
What you need to do:
- If you are asked a direct question by a customer about Sprint getting the iPhone, you can simply say, “Yes, I saw a few of those reports. I don’t have any information to share.”
- If customers want to know more refer them to sprint.com Newsroom for the latest public information.
We’ve seen previous leaks originating from Sprint customer support representatives that confirmed the carrier will launch the iPhone. Such reports can never be 100% trusted though, but today’s leak is quite interesting. Sprint is not yet ready to take an official position regarding the iPhone, which means the handset may be launched with the carrier as previously rumored.
What carrier would you rather buy an iPhone 5 from, assuming that, besides AT&T and Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile would also get it?
