R-Type Coming To An Android Device Near You Next Month

DotEmu Announces Android Version Of Arcade Classic R-Type, Due Out In Early September

Those who crave to return to the golden age of gaming will definitely want to pay attention here, because DotEmu – a publisher that prides itself on bringing retro games into the modern market – has announced that they’ll be releasing the classic shoot ‘em up R-Type on Android devices next month.

Of course, the irony in this news is that those pining for a return to the days of old will need a completely modern phone before they can get in on the action, but hey, details. R-Type will be up on the Android Market and Amazon AppStore for Android on September 12, and DotEmu says that in addition to all of the classic features returning in this updated installment, they’ll also be including a new “full touch mode,” that will give players direct control over their ship at all times.

Unfortunately, the more important details such as pricing and Android OS requirements have been left out of the announcement, but with a release date that’s only a couple of weeks away, you can bet that we’ll be hearing more about R-Type on Android soon.
