Droid Bionic Release Date Confirmed for September 8 Via Twitter

Motorola Droid Bionic Makes Online Appearance, Company Confirms Launch Date

The Droid Bionic is Verizon’s next 4G LTE Android smartphone, a handset first announced at CES 2011 in January, but later pulled by Motorola in order to put it through an important makeover.

The handset is coming in September, we’ve known that for a while as Motorola’s CEO has confirmed this fact during the company’s latest earnings call. The rumored launch date for the Bionic has been September 8 since, according to various leaks, and it looks like that’s going to be the actual date Verizon will start selling this handset.

The official twitter account of the Droid Bionic has confirmed earlier today that the phone is coming indeed on September 8, but didn’t mention pre-order availabilty:

On September 8th 2011, the Motorola Droid Bionic will be in your hands.

No pre-order’s yet. The wait is almost over.

The phone has also officially appeared on Motorola’s website although, at the moment, the Bionic’s official page reads:

I’m sorry, but the content you were looking for can not be found. If you believe this to be an error, click the referring link again. You will be redirected to the homepage in 15 seconds, or you can click here.

The Droid Bionic appeared so far in quite a number of leaks and rumors and we’ve even seen videos of the device in action, including the first TV commercial Verizon prepared for the handset. In other words it’s time Verizon launched it already, especially considering the hot smartphones that are getting ready to be rival it in the near future.

The Samsung Galaxy S II 4G LTE has just been announced, and it could very well be an LTE-ready alternative for U.S. customers. The iPhone 4S/5 is surely going to be announced in the following weeks, and the new Apple handset is going to be a serious threat to its Android competitors, including LTE devices such as the Bionic.

Is anyone buying the Bionic in just over a week from now, or has the wait been too long?

It has taken too long for them to release this, it better be worth the wait. Now that unlimited data plans are toast I will probably wait and see if Sprint gets the iPhone. Verizon is showing that they do not value their existing basic customers who want to upgrade to a smartphone, so I will look elsewhere.

It’s been too long. Had it come out beginning of August, I might have bought it because my current phone is falling apart. But now, we are too close to some exciting phones coming, like the Nexus Prime, maybe in October. I think I can wait for that over picking up a Bionic, that will be outdated a month after release.

It is frustrating when Verizon has people sign up to get updates on the Bionic via email, but then use their Twitter account to provide information. I too have ben waiting since the beginning of the year and decided to replace my origional Droid with a Droid X (that I got on Craigslist for $100.00). My 2 year contract is up in November but I can take my time deciding which of the new phones is the best choice. Or wait until the price drops from the reported $299.00

How is Verizon going to still call this thing Bionic? It is 9 months delayed from its original launch date of January. We all saw Verizon’s launch schedule here on August 4th with phones like LG’s Revolution HD, HTC’s Vigor, Samsung’s Stratosphere, etc which are launching within a few weeks of “Bionic”. I am sure “Bionic” was Bionic if it launched on time but now it is going to launch so late and be less than Bionic compared to its competitors. These phones which are going to meet there scheduled dates unlike Motorola will be the true Bionic phones. Save your money and get the real BIONIC phones a couple of weeks later. for latest news updates about moto info i would like to share a great source [Ed: link removed]
