Samsung Delays Galaxy S II Press Event Because Of Hurricane Irene
Hurricane Irene raved the lower East Coast today, killing seven people and leaving 3 million without power according to reports. Now, it’s baring down on New York City. Samsung Mobile has canceled a press event that was scheduled to be held on Monday night that was set to take place in the City.

Although Irene will probably have cleared out of New York by Monday, with all the airports closed and something like over 30,000 flights canceled on the East Coast, it’s probably impossible for quite a few of the tech journalists to make it to New York. No word from those invited on when it’s been delayed to, but Samsung was expected to reveal the Samsung Galaxy S II – the next generation of their top notch Android phone.
The Samsung Galaxy S II has already been out overseas for sometimes and looks to be a pretty good phone. It should be called the Samsung Attain, Samsung Hercules and Samsung Epic 4G Touch on AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint respectively. No Verizon model of this phone, seems likely to me that Verizon is passing on this model because they have just added the Samsung Droid Charge, another top Samsung phone with 4G LTE connectivity.
If Android isn’t your style, you may be interested to know that all the Apple stores in Manhattan were closed this weekend due to Hurricane Irene, including the famous Fifth Avenue Apple Store with the glass cube, which is very famously open 24/7/365. Bad weather, traffic jam. You can take all the time you want. The fact that this is a half year old piece of technology will give people more to think when it comes to buying this phone. No matter how good this phone is or was, chances are better technology will replace it very soon. Do you really think Apple, HTC or Moto is half year behind Samsung in terms of technology? Besides, Samsung might have something to replace it soon too.
