4.5-inch Samsung Galaxy S II 4G LTE Coming at IFA 2011? [Upgraded Galaxy S II Android Smartphone Rumored to be Announced at Upcoming German Trade Show]

Samsung recently launched a teaser campaign for its upcoming IFA 2011 “Unpacked” mobile event hinting that, in just a few days from now we’re going to see the South Korean company launch some new mobile devices.

Samsung was initially rumored to launch a 4G LTE version of the Galaxy S II and a second-generation 7-inch Galaxy Tab tablet. Then we learned yesterday, thanks to a leak based on Samsung’s Android application for its Unpacked event, the names of two upcoming Android devices, the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and a bada handset, Wave 3, all expected to be unveiled on September 1.

Which brings us to today when we’ll tell you that a new report says the South Korean giant is also planning to unveil the Galaxy S II LTE version next week in Germany.

This upgraded version of the Galaxy S II will feature a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, NFC support, Wi-Fi, 8-megapixel camera with flash, 1,850mAh battery and Android (probably Gingerbread). More importantly, this phone is said to be the first phone in the world to come with multi-mode capabilities. That means LTE, WCDMA and GSM support. And that also means it won’t necessarily be a U.S. exclusive, which is where one can find the first carriers ready to offer LTE coverage, Verizon, and AT&T, although admittedly the latter is still trailing way back when it comes to LTE deployment and coverage.

Such a phone would be pretty similar with the Samsung Celox, also a Galaxy S II version, made for Korea, although we have no idea what Samsung will call it for other markets. Could this new Galaxy S II version actually be called the Galaxy Note? From the looks of it though, this device appears to be another worthy iPhone 5 alternative.

It will be interesting to see whether this upgraded Galaxy S II will hit Verizon. Current reports say that Big Red will skip on the “plain” Galaxy S II version and launch the Nexus Prime instead, which is apparently an already confirmed future Samsung smartphone.
