Sonic CD Landing On A Ton Of Platforms, Comes Complete With Japanese Soundtrack [Sonic CD Coming To Almost Every Platform Around (Except Wii), Sega Ditching Lame American Soundtrack In Favor Of Hip & Trendy Japanese One]

Earlier this week, Major Nelson blew the lid off plans to sneak Sonic CD into Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade lineup at PAX Prime, and while I speculated that it was probably also coming to the PlayStation Network, it turns out that I was way off in my estimation in that it’s actually coming to almost every platform you can imagine.

Sega has announced that this re-release of Sonic CD will land on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, PC, iPad, iPhone, Android devices, and finally, Windows Phone 7. It’ll come complete with support for trophies and achievements as well as widescreen graphics, but perhaps what fans will find most exciting is that this version of Sonic CD will feature the Japanese soundtrack, which most fans view as superior to the American soundtrack (for good reason too).

Notice, though, that I said it would be coming to almost every platform around. That’s right, the poor old Wii is getting the shaft once again, even though there’s already of good amount of Sonic games offered on the Virtual Console. Oh well, what can you do? This is what happens when you decide to stop supporting your current console before the next one arrives, Nintendo.

No word on a release date yet, but keep it tuned here to TFTS because there’s almost certainly going to be more details coming out of PAX Prime this weekend!
