Quora Adds Location Tagging to Topics [Social Intelligence Site Adds Location Dimension to Question & Answer Topics]
Quora is known for its social intelligence, in that users ask questions and others pitch in. But with many of its topics bearing a geographic dimension, Quora has found it high time to add location tagging.

Many of Quora’s questions and answers relate to places. While the social Q&A site has not previously added location details, the site now includes location-tagging for relevant questions. This way, when users are asking about certain landmarks, tourist spots or even restaurants, bars and cafes to visit, one can simply drop a pin on an onscreen map.
Location tagging adds functionality on several dimensions. First, this will improve tourism and commerce-related questions. Place-specific questions will be better answered when you know exactly where to find them. Secondly, Quora is confident that location-tagging will make mobile use of the site even more exciting, noting that more and more people use the service from their smartphones and tablets. Aside from just tagging locations, this will also let Quora tie together topics based on location. This will be useful when traveling, or as a city/location guide.
The service, which uses Google Maps, will launch soon, and will be available to Quora users on desktop and mobile phones. Unfortunately, Quora doesn’t allow signups without an invitation, so not everyone can access the site and the location-based service without first getting an invite from someone already using the service.
