iPad 2 & iPhone 5 Jailbreak in Danger as Comex Gets an Internship with Apple [Comex Looking at Promising Apple Career, Is Popular iOS Jailbreak Developer Turning Pro?]

You’ve heard me mention his screen name a bunch of times, and in most of this cases, it was preceded or followed by terms such as “jailbreak”, “iOS” or “iPad 2”. Comex, already an iOS jailbreak mastermind, author of the popular, and user-friendly JailbreakMe series of jailbreak tools, may be getting ready to turn pro.

According to a recent congratulation tweet from another prominent jailbreaker, the iPhone Dev Team’s MuscleNerd, Comex has landed a great gig, an internship with Apple. I’m sure the Cupertino-based company didn’t waste this chance to hire a young man with such potential. After all Comex is the only one to have jailbroken the iPad 2 (with JailbreakMe 3.0), even if Apple was quick to counter it, and the company would certainly want that sort of guy helping iOS grow instead of tearing it apart.

I think it’s safe to say Comex will not be providing any jailbreak support anytime soon, so you’ll have to look elsewhere for the future iPad 2 and iPhone 5 jailbreak fix. Sure there are other people working hard to offer such solutions to the crowds, but Apple is getting better and better at countering them.

All iOS devices up until the iPad 2 will be jailbreakable for life, as the current security wholes used by jailbreak tools can’t be patched by Apple’s firmware updates. But the iPad 2, and you know this by now, is a new piece of hardware. The iPhone 4S/5 and the future iPod touch 5G will also fall into that category, therefore I think jailbreakers will have a hard time cracking them open in the following months. In fact, even with Comex still “freelancing” for the jailbreak community there’s no guarantee the iPhone 5 will be quickly jailbroken. But we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

Other famous jailbreakers/developers, have been snatched up by important tech companies lately. GeoHot, known for jailbreaking the iPhone and the PlayStation 3, is now a Facebook employee. Samsung has snatched up Steve Kondik, and he’s expected to continue tuning the Android UI for the South Korean company. And now Comex is announcing that he’s going to Apple, coincidentally, in the same week during which the company’s iconic figure announced his resignation from the CEO position.
