Google Docs Android App Gets An Update
Google originally rolled out the Google Docs app for Android back in late-April and since then they have offered a few smaller updates. That being said, as of today an updated version of the app has come available by way of the Android Market and it brings a few new features.

First things first though, the details of the app — Google Docs for Android is now sitting at version 1.0.16 and it measures in at 2.11MB in size and requires Android 2.1 or later for use. And just as a side note, the Google Docs app works rather nicely on the original 7 inch Galaxy Tab.
In terms of new features, those include;
- Available in 46 languages.
- Copy an image from your Android gallery directly to the Google Docs Web Clipboard.
- Open your documents with any compatible installed app.
- Send any document as an attachment through email, MMS, or another installed app.
And for those wondering about that language support, that is 45 more languages as compared to the previous version. Otherwise, while these new features are all welcomed, we cannot forget about what the app launched with. Those goodies include;
- Create, edit, upload and share your documents with the Google Docs app
- Designed for Android to save you time finding your docs
- Edits to your documents appear to collaborators in seconds
- Make quick changes to spreadsheets
- View your documents, PDFs, images and more
- Upload and convert files to the Google Docs format
- Take a photo of printed text and convert it to a Google document
- Share docs with your phone’s contacts
All said and done, Google Docs for Android seems to be a fairly complete app. Still, we cannot help but think of a few features that we would really like to see — one of which is offline access. But then again, we are thinking that we are not the only ones that would like to see offline support.

I’d like to see better tablet support. I’d love the editor to be as functional as when using Chrome on a PC. Sadly it isn’t at the moment.
