Verizon Continues The 4G LTE Roll-Out, Announces Several More Soon To Be Covered Areas
Verizon may have just recently flipped the 4G LTE switch in 15 additional cities and further expanded the coverage in another 10 cities, however it looks like they are continuing on with the rapid pace. Yup, Verizon has announced several additional cities that will soon be blanketed in 4G LTE sweetness.

That being said, the new coverage zones are set to go live on September 15th. The coverage will include the following locations;
- Bloomington/Normal, Champaign/Urbana and Springfield, Illinois
- Quad Cities area of Iowa and Illinois including Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa, and Moline and Rock Island in Illinois
- Rockford, Illinois including Machesney Park, Loves Park, Belvidere and Winnebago
- Iowa City, Iowa
- Fargo, North Dakota
- Moorhead, Minnesota
- Lima, Ohio including the city of Van Wert, along Interstate 75 from U.S. Route 30 south to U.S. Route 33, and west from the village of Ada to the city of Delphos
- Greater Cleveland, Ohio including including Elyria, Sheffield Lake, North Ridgeville and Mentor
- Canton, Ohio including the Akron-Canton Airport and the communities of Massillon, Jackson Township, Uniontown, Hartville, Alliance, Louisville, North Canton and East Canton
- Mansfield, Ohio including north to the town of Shelby, east to Charles Mill Lake and the town of Perrysville, west to the town of Ontario, and south to the towns of Butler and Bellville
Otherwise, as Verizon mentioned last time they offered 4G LTE roll-out news, the coverage is now available for more than 160 million Americans or “more than half the U.S. population.” Of course, judging from the year end prediction of “more than 185 million Americans” we are not all that sure how many more mass roll-outs we are going to see between now and the end of December.
With that, and given the last roll-out took place so soon before — the compatible device list looks the same and includes;
- Smartphones: Revolution by LG, DROID Charge by Samsung and ThunderBolt by HTC
- Tablets: Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 4G LTE
- Notebooks and Netbooks: HP Pavilion dm1-3010nr Entertainment PC and Compaq Mini CQ10-688nr with built-in 4G LTE
- Hotspots: Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MiFi 4510L and Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot SCH-LC11
- Modems: Verizon Wireless 4G LTE USB Modem 551L and Pantech UML290 USB modem
