Windows 8 Pre-Release Builds to Be Accessible to Public

Microsoft Promises Easy Access to Windows 8 Builds to Interested Parties; Not Just BUILD Conference Attendees

Microsoft’s BUILD Conference is actually sold-out, and both users and developers are interested in how Microsoft will distribute pre-release builds of its upcoming Windows 8 PC and tablet operating systems. It seems they won’t be stingy with handing out copies, as they promise easy access to pre-release versions.

Microsoft Windows developers have tweeted that interested parties shouldn’t worry about getting their hands on early versions of Windows 8. While developers are sure to get their early peeks at Windows 8 at the BUILD conference from September 13 to 16, Microsoft won’t make it too hard for everyone else to try Windows 8 out.

Folks asking about getting pre-release bits… we promise it will be easy and not a secret.

Recall that Microsoft also did the same with its early release builds of Windows 7, thus sparking the interest of both users and developers alike, especially in the aftermath of the mess that Vista was. Microsoft even changed the entire licensing model of their operating system, letting users download Windows 7 freely, then selling licenses online for activation. This time around, it will be even more exciting, because Windows 8 promises to include cross-platform support, including desktop and portable computers, alike.

Of course, we do believe that Windows 8 builds will be leaked on BitTorrent and other file sharing sites, anyway. But if you can get it from official sources, then why not? September is nearing. Will you get your hands on a copy of Windows 8 as soon as a pre-release build is available?

I have a lot of faith in Windows 8. And I bet it will be better than Apple and Google OS. More universal, too.

      Cheers.

I just hope the builds will run in a VM. I want to try it out, but I dont want to sacrifice my only machine to an alpha/early beta piece of os.
