Text Messaging Still Most Popular Among All Smartphone Applications

Phone Behavior Study Shows 92% Of Smartphone Users, 59% Other Phone Users Send & Receive Text Messages

Remember the pre-smartphone era when there’s very little to do on your phone? Text messaging was one of cell phones’ main features. And if you were growing up during those times, you might have used your phones extensively for that purpose. What with all the features, functions, apps, bells and whistles, and a lot, lot more of smartphones these days, you’d think text messaging wouldn’t be as popular. But that doesn’t seem to be the case.

In a study conducted by Pew Internet and American Life Project with 2,277 responders , text messaging and picture-taking top the list of things people do with their phones. In particular, 92% of smartphone users (688 among all the responders) say they use text messaging regularly on their phones, while 59% of the rest use that function. An identical percentage of respondents use the camera functionality of their phones.

As expected, a larger percentage of smartphone users take advantage of functions that utilize internet connection such as downloading or posting stuff online. Do you still use your smartphone to text frequently? I know I do.
