Tablets Still Not A Threat To PCs; Apple iPad Dominates Market As Usual
According to a study by Baird Equity Research, tablets are still far from overtaking the and completely eclipsing traditional computers. Yes, they may eat into the PC market, and yes, PC sales might be stagnant as of recent, but tablets are yet to become a major competitor to full-featured computers.

Baird surveyed 1,114 consumers, 83% of which says they couldn’t do with a PC, and would buy a tablet to supplement a PC, not replace it. Six percent of that number is perfectly happy living a life without PCs, though we reckon these are casual computer users without any real need for a more powerful machine. The stats, of course, reflect tablets in their current state. Which means only time can tell how the traditional PC will fare against tablets as the latter’s features and capabilities grow more and more.

Baird says these results prove tablets are “incremental devices.” And, of course, just like every other survey and study out there, Baird determines the Apple iPad to be top of the industry.
