Minecraft Launches Pocket Edition
Hey Xperia Play owners, if you actually bought the handset for the sole reason of getting the Minecraft Pocket Edition when it first drops, then make the virtual trip to the Android Market right now for the app has finally landed. First announced early this year, Minecraft Pocket Edition is initially available to Sony Ericsson Xperia Play handsets – other Android devices will follow suit.

The people behind the pocket edition fail to mention when the rest of us non-Xperia Play users can grab the game, though, so hold on tight for more future announcements. Those who have the handset, however, can pony up $6.99 to get a copy. This version (the first one, called Alpha 0.1) supports multiplayer gaming through wireless networks, with features including:
- Randomized worlds
- Build anything you can imagine
- Build with 36 different kinds of blocks
- Invite and play with friends to your world (local wireless network)
- Save multi-player worlds on your own phone

The Minecraft pocket edition team plans to roll out frequent updates in the future, so expect subsequent versions to come out in time. Minecraft recently announced passing 3 million sales of its beta release even before its official launch on November.
