Gamescom 2011: Guild Wars 2 Gets An Intense New Trailer
Back in the days when MMOs were all the rage and everyone was playing World of Warcraft (who am I kidding? MMOs are still all the rage and everyone is still playing WoW), my friends and I were playing Guild Wars. Guild Wars was a major time sink for me, and though I’ve fallen out of MMOs since then, the Guild Wars 2 trailer we have for you after the break might just be enough to pull me back in.

The trailer starts out all soft and delicate-like, with environments materializing right before your eyes while some pretty beautiful music plays in the background. All of the sudden, the scene erupts into all out war, with bone dragons, ice wurms, possessed skeletons, and demonic centaurs all joining in the fight (though I admit I don’t know the canonical names for these beasts, so Guild Wars veterans can feel free to school this noob in the comments section below).
My favorite class from the original Guild Wars, the Necromancer, makes an appearance in this trailer, bringing it all together to form one awesome package. After checking this out, I think I might have to give some serious consideration to Guild Wars 2 when it releases next year (hopefully). I urge you to do the same, because Guild Wars was one of the few MMOs that didn’t charge a subscription fee, yet still felt like a complete game. Enjoy the trailer, and keep it tuned here for more Gamescom news!
