Gamescom 2011: Blizzard Basically Confirms Console Version Of Diablo 3
Now that Blizzard is flying under the banner of Activision, it looks like they’re finally ready to give this whole console development thing another shot: a console version of Diablo 3 has been rumored for a while, with job postings popping up on Blizzard’s website under the Diablo 3 header, calling for console developers to join the team.

Now, Blizzard has dropped more hints at Gamescom that the console version is definitely in the works, with Josh Mosqueira saying that the studio is “is very, very serious about bringing the Diablo 3 experience to the console.”
Today, we’re trying to build the best console team at Blizzard. We’re looking for programmers, designers, artists who think their dream job would be to bring Diablo to the console. Trust me, it is a dream job. All I can say is it’s going to be awesome. Stay tuned.
Of course, the “very, very serious,” part of his statement is probably in reference to their previous console outings – a port of the original Diablo on PSOne and Starcraft 64. Neither of those titles were very well received by really anybody, so when he says that they’re really serious about Diablo 3 on consoles, he’s basically saying “We’re doing everything we can to make sure that Diablo 3 on consoles isn’t an epic failure on every conceivable level.”
Here’s hoping that Diablo 3 on consoles is actually a success, but I’d still go with the PC version if you have the option (and don’t mind always being connected to the internet in order to play). We’ll be sure to let you know when the console version of Diablo 3 actually gets an official confirmation, so keep it tuned right here to TFTS!
