Mobile Gaming Won't Beat Out Console Gaming According To One Former Microsoft Executive
As mobile phones, especially smartphones, grow in popularity, mobile gaming is also shooting for the sky. Some may be fearful that gaming consoles could eventually go by the wayside and be replaced totally by mobile gaming. Is this possible, or even probable? According to former Microsoft Game Studios Vice President Shane Kim, no way (as apposed to Qualcomm’s opinion).

You might be thinking that his answer isn’t very surprising considering where he used to work, but if you knew that he is now on the board of Zipline Games, a mobile game development company, his comment becomes all that more interesting. He isn’t saying that one will win over the other but rather there is room in the gaming market for both.
Mr. Kim says he sees the major console game companies as having plans for the next generations of console gamers. The mobile gaming market may have some affect but console gaming still has an appeal. With mobile gaming having obstacles such as lack of computing power, and the console gaming companies having innovation enough to keep folks interested for now, the time is not yet here for consoles to disappear entirely.
