Google Maps for Android Updated With Transit Navigation, Personalized Places & Bubbles
Google Maps users on smartphones might already be enjoying transit navigation since the feature was launched a few months ago. But now tablet users can also use Maps to navigate through public transport, with a few extra other features, to boot.

Google has just released its 5.9 update to Google Maps for Android, which now includes these features.
- Transit for tablet computers – Google Maps users on Android tablets can now enjoy the same transit navigation functionality that smartphone users have. Traveling through public transportation will now be easier, with stop-by-stop navigation across supported routes.
- Bubble Buttons – This feature was removed in more recent versions of Google Maps, which necessitated the opening of a new page whenever you want to get more details on an establishment or landmark. Now Bubble Buttons will display relevant information like address, telephone number, and URL right on the Maps interface. This feature can be activated via Labs.
- Personalized Places – Users can now manage visited and starred places with a new My Places tab.
Google Maps 5.9 is available for download via Android Market, and supports smartphones and tablets from version 2.1 up.
