New iPhone Parts Leak Suggests A White iPhone 5 At Launch

Remember what a fracas it was to try and get a white iPhone 4? The lawsuits, the rioting, the sobbing? Well, it seems Apple may have learned its lesson on that one and is looking to offer them up at launch, if the recent discovery of leaked parts is any indication.

The leaked parts come from Chinese suppliers, at last report, which means we’ll be needing our Apple Rumor Salt Lick for this one. But the key thing to note is that the replacement parts–among others, a headphone jack–come in both black and white, indicating good chances for a white iPhone 5 out of the gate. They’re also being described as “superficially similar” to the iPhone 4′s parts, but at the same time “subtly different”. Also involved in the leak were a camera lens and a proximity sensor flex cable, both of which also suggested that white iPhone 5 models may not be too far behind.

On the one hand, the very real possibility is that these are just parts made against the possibility of a white iPhone 5 release later on down the line. It wouldn’t be out of line for a supplier to take a little extra capacity to make a product that may well emerge later on so that they’re covered against future potential slowdowns. But at the same time, if the memory of the various troubles surrounding the white iPhone 4 are fresh in our minds, you can imagine what an ever-present thought they are for Apple itself.

So will we see a white iPhone 5 at launch? The chances are pretty good, I’d say, especially considering the whole white iPhone 4 thing. Of course, they’re still only chances until we see the actual product roll off the line from Apple proper, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for this and any more iPhone 5 news for you guys.
