Cyanogenmod Developer Steve Kondik Is Hired By Samsung

Cyanogen Himself Is Hired By The Mobile Phone Manufacturer But Claims Has Nothing To Do With CyanogenMod Development

According to his Facebook job status, Steve Kondik, AKA Cyanogen, has taken a job offered to him by Samsung. Steve is the head of the CyanogenMod project and has apparently gotten the attention of Samsung perhaps because of the success of CyanogenMod. The questions buzzing around the Internet right now are what is he doing in his work with Samsung, how will it affect the CyanogenMod project, and could Samsung possibly be working on integrating CyanogenMod into their phones on a more official basis?

CyanogenMod is among the most popular custom Android ROMs out there right now. If you don’t like your manufacturer’s UI, or Android’s vanilla UI, flashing a ROM such as CyanogenMod could be in your future because there is a wide amount of handsets that it has been ported to. Right now it is a custom ROM based on Android 2.3 with several enhancements that many users love.

We know “Software Engineer” is attached to the employment update but what does it mean? Either way, it’s nice to see the manufacturers reaching out to the development community. It wasn’t that long ago that Samsung donated some Galaxy S II’s to the Cyanogen development community to tinker with. Keep up the good work Samsung and way to go Steve!
