Apple vs HTC: Taiwanese Company Strikes Back With New Lawsuit
The Apple vs HTC conflict is not new, but in case you forgot we’re looking at the same suing and counter-suing scenario we see mentioned almost on a daily basis when it comes to the tech world, and, specifically, the mobile business.

But HTC decided it was time to hit Apple with a new lawsuit claiming new infringements on three patents. The targeted devices are the iPhone, iPad, iPods and other devices, and, according to Reuters, HTC wants also an import ban on top of damages from Cupertino:
The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Delaware seeks to halt Apple’s importation and sale of infringing products in the United States. It also seeks compensatory damages, triple damages for willful infringement and other remedies.
Apple is yet to comment on this matter but I think the company is more than versed in such legal predicaments. Apple is currently battling other important Android device makers like Samsung or Motorola and it’s already involved in multiple lawsuits with HTC too. The three patents that HTC dug up, two previously purchased form ADC and one submitted by HTC, are the following:
- 7,417,944 ”Method for orderwire modulation”
- 7,672,219 ”Multipoint-to-point communication using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing”
- 7,765,414 ”Circuit and operating method for integrated interface of PDA and wireless communication system”
HTC is surely interested in making the most of such attacks following the recent defeat it sustained in a different legal battle with Apple. The Taiwan-based company has recently acquired various S3 patents, which could also be used in a future trial against Apple, as Cupertino is said to already be infringing some of those patents.
It’s too early to tell who’s right and who’s wrong in such cases, therefore we’ll be waiting for the courts to point us in the right direction. That, however, shouldn’t stop you from taking sides; who do you like better, HTC or Apple?
