Amazon Launches Student iPhone App
The newly-launched Amazon Student app for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch is pretty similar to the company’s original iPhone app, except it comes with new features that cater specifically to students. Amazon says the free app could help students buy and sell textbooks a lot more easily.

The app’s new built-in scanner functionality is front and center as a few of the app’s features rely on it. For example, to get the best price available for a certain book, borrow one from a friend or a bookstore, and scan its bar code by a taking a picture of it. The app would then be able to show you a list of prices for the book. And if you’re the one selling, scan your book’s bar code to see if it’s eligible for Amazon’s Textbook Buyback program – you get an Amazon gift card if it is.

Using the app, students could also avail of various perks like free two-day shipping for various products like laptops, video games, TVs, and even toasters among many other things.
