Motorola Defy+ Officially Unveiled, Set To Arrive In The "Early Fall"

Back towards the end of July we saw the rumor mill kick out some details on the Motorola Defy+, which of course, was set to become the follow up to the Motorola Defy. And well, while this Motorola Mobility related news may not be as exciting as what we heard in conjunction with Google this morning — the Defy+ has been officially outed.

The catch with this, while it seems like it will serve as a nice follow up to the original Defy, the Defy+ is only going to be available in select markets. According to the details coming from Motorola, the Defy+ will be found in Asia, Europe and Latin America beginning in the early fall. So far nothing has been mentioned in terms of pricing or specific carriers, however we suppose that will come as we get closer to the release timeframe.

“Motorola DEFY+, our latest life proof smartphone, delivers the endurance and design strength to keep up with even the most demanding lifestyles, along with the social and entertainment capabilities that put friends and fun in easy reach,” said Alain Mutricy, senior vice president, portfolio and device product management, Motorola Mobility.

In terms of features, the handset comes as water resistant, scratch resistant and dust proof. The display will measure in at 3.7 inches and the glass is scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. Other features include a 1GHz processor that is noted as being “25 percent faster for efficient Web browsing and multitasking” as well as Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 2GB internal storage, a 2GB mircoSD card, 1700 mAh battery and a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, flash and digital zoom.

Lastly, the Defy+ will have access to the Android Market and ship with other goodies to include Adobe Flash Player 10, the Zinio e-magazine service and a Cardio Trainer app that is described as being able to transform your phone into the “perfect running mate.”
