Viral Google+ Video Makes The Case for Google; Facebook Viral Video Got 8 Oscar Nominations

The Google+ Song Shows Main Features: Circles, Hangouts & Stream, Explains That Ditching Facebook Can Happen

Google+ is a growing phenomenon already, an unexpected Facebook competitor, but not necessarily a white knight in shining armor. In fact Google has plenty of chinks in that armor and there are certain aspects of Google+ people have a tough time dealing with.

Nonetheless, Google managed to gather over 25 million Google+ users and it keeps expanding its services. Facebook, the giant social network with 750 million users, is already feeling the heat and, despite its vast experience in keeping clients glued to their, and mostly to other people’s walls, it sees in Google+ a more than worthy rival.

And Google+ already has a very catchy video that’s currently going viral on YouTube. Before you ask, no, it wasn’t commissioned by Google, since this is rather a parody, entitled “The Google+ Song”, based on the song formerly known as “Another One Bites The Dust”, and created by Break to unwillingly make the case for Google.

The video shows us, in less than two minutes, why Google+ is so awesome. Circles, +1s, the stream and Hangouts, are main Google+ features and they’re all explained in a way Freddie Mercury would never expect to hear.

Google+, a product we have covered thoroughly since launch, is still a creation that makes us question Google’s intentions. The main “scandal” related to Google+ is the fact that Google requires all users to fill in their full name in order for the accounts not to be banned, even though some of those users may be best known for their stage name, or may have uncommon names (real names) that may be misinterpreted by Google as fake. Should we worry Google wants to know more and more stuff about the consumers of its web products that help it generate billions in profit each quarter?

Still, Facebook has the biggest viral video ever made. It’s called “The Social Network” and it netted eight Oscar nominations earlier this year, and Zuckerberg & Co. will certainly put up a great fight against Google’s Plus.

What do you say? Google+ or Facebook?
