iCloud iPhone Is The Cheap iPhone 4S Version We Keep Hearing About?

Weeks Ahead of Release Date the iPhone 5 Low-Cost Model Is Said to be Called the iCloud iPhone]

The closer we get to September, the more fifth-generation iPhone rumors we hear, and some of them keep referring to the cheaper iPhone 5 we may see in stores in the following months. Usually called the iPhone 4S, the low-cost, entry-level, new iPhone may have a different name with Apple, the iCloud iPhone.

The iCloud iPhone is a silly name for an Apple device, considering the fact that all iOS 5-running iPhones will have access to Apple’s iCloud. But according to sources that’s what Apple calls it right now. Therefore the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5 will all be iCloud iPhones.

What is an iCloud iPhone really? According to AppleNApps such a device is basically a slightly redesigned iPhone 4 that will look like a small iPad (now that’s a thought we didn’t here before as usually the iPad is said to be a bigger iPhone) and that will cost $400, without a contract, or that will be available free of charge when bundled with new two-year contracts. The iCloud iPhone is said to be to the iPhone 5 what the MacBook Air is to the MacBook Pro, a comparison that doesn’t surprise us considering Apple’s way of designing products with various buyers in mind.

The iCloud iPhone’s main characteristic is that it will pack less memory as the user would end up utilizing Apple’s iCloud storage features. That will let Apple maintain its profit margins while cutting the price of the device by up to 15%. The iCloud iPhone is therefore the main star of Apple’s upcoming iPhone announcement, even though, when it comes to specs and features, the iPhone 5 will be the device to look at. The iPhone 5 is expected to be “thinner, faster, and lighter similar to the upgrade for the iPad 2”, which pretty much confirms previous rumors regarding future iPhone 5 characteristics.

The two iPhones are expected to be launched in the last week of September, but, although all this new information is coming from three anonymous sources familiar with Apple plans related to the fifth-generation iPhone 5 launch, we still need proper confirmation from Apple. What next-gen iPhone would your rather buy, the iCloud iPhone or the iPhone 5 (vote in our poll here)?
