Old iPhone & iPad Models Can be Turned Into Apple Gift Cards Via Reuse & Recycling Program

Apple’s “Reuse & Recycle Program” lets you turn your old gadgets into Apple Gift Cards that you can use to purchase new stuff from Cupertino. The company decided to also included the iPhone and the iPad in this recycle program, right along Macs and PCs, so, if you happen to own any old iPhone or iPad you could very well consider sending them back to Apple and wait for your appropriate Gift Card.

Apple is working with PowerOn to determine the value of your about-to-be-recycled products, but don’t expect huge piles of cash heading your way for your old devices. In case you think your device is worth more than what Apple is ready to pay back to you, then you can always decide to sell it via any of the auction sites available out there. Your old stuff will surely be appreciated by someone that wants a certain Apple product but can’t afford to buy a new one. And devices like the iPhone and the iPad are still going to quickly find a new owner even after a couple of years of service. As long as your iOS device is in good condition you’ll probably get more cash back by selling it than by actually trading-it in via Apple’s recycling program.

My 64GB iPad Wi-Fi, which is about a year old, and which is in more than a good condition, is now valued by Apple’s online tool at $210. Sure once they’d get their hands on it they may offer extra cash for the device, but I’d probably be able to at least double that number should I sell it via eBay for example.

Of course if you have older devices that could be included in this Apple program, and I’m referring to old Macs and PCs that you’d have a harder time selling, then you should definitely consider recycling them, even if you won’t get an Apple Gift Card in return (that’s also a possibility according to the program’s rules).
