Virgin Mobile Attacks T-Mobile/AT&T Acquisition In New Commercial
We know that a lot of you weren’t happy when it was announced that AT&T would be acquiring T-Mobile US (pending regulatory approval). Now, Virgin Mobile is hoping to capitalize on that. A new commercial from the prepaid carrier is mocking the T-Mobile ads staring Carly Foulkes aka “T-Mobile Girl” and invites dissatisfied T-Mobile customers to join the Virgin Mobile party.

We’ll embed the video below, but to briefly sum it up, it involves two Virgin Mobile folks talking about the sterile white room that Carly always appears in. Then, a faux T-Mobile Girl appears and says “Imagine us being taken over by AT&T, who’s last in customer satisfaction.” The commercial goes on to pimp Virgin Mobile’s $35/month unlimited plan for smartphones.
Surprised that Virgin Mobile is going after T-Mobile/AT&T so openly? Don’t be. That company is, of course, a subsidiary of Sprint, and Sprint and their CEO Dan Hesse is leading the charge against the AT&Tmo deal in Washington, DC. While Virgin Mobile has offered Android devices previously, they’ve just started offering the Motorola Trimuph, an Android 2.2 device with a big 4.1-inch screen. Many folks consider this to be the first Android phone they’ve offered that’s been on par with the other offerings from other carriers, so we may see some T-Mobile folks jump ship once (if) T-Mobile is acquired by AT&T.
The new VM commercial is below. I suspect the AT&T guy in the suit is supposed to be John Hodgman from the “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” ads, even though the iPhone runs on AT&T. But, I digress.

Carly is waaaayyyy to gorgeous of a spokesperson/model to be beaten up by a substandard mobile provider the likes of Virgin.
More people will migrate away from Virgin because of these ad’s.
