OS X Lion Boot Camp 4 Won't Support Windows XP & Vista
There are several reasons why Microsoft is trying to convince users to upgrade to Windows 7. Aside from security, stability and compatibility, there are just some applications that won’t work with old versions of Windows anymore.

Apple released OS X Lion a few weeks ago to much fanfare. Now whenever Apple releases a major update to Mac OS, some people watch out for potential incompatibilities. And if you’re using Boot Camp, you might want to consider making sure your Windows version works with the OS.
OS X Lion’s bundled Boot Camp 4 reportedly works only for Windows 7, which means that Windows XP and Vista users will be left out. The only consolation here is that if you’re just upgrading from a previous OS X version (Leopard, Snow Leopard), the older version of Boot Camp — version 3 — will still work with an XP or Vista partition. But if you’re doing a fresh Lion installation, you should have a Windows 7 installer on hand if you want to dual-boot with Boot Camp.
