HBO Go Clears Four Million Downloads
There is actually a reasonable chance that, if you’re reading this, you may have downloaded HBO Go for use on one of your various mobile devices. They’ve just cleared the four million download mark, and at last report, this is only just the beginning for HBO’s streaming ambitions.

You likely already know that HBO launched HBO Go back in April for Android and iOS devices alike, thanks to the reportage of our own Robert Nelson. And with fully four million downloads, that means a whole lot of people out there are getting access to older HBO content, along with some nifty extras like the Watchlist, that lets you decide what you want to watch now, and then actually do the watching later, as well as Series Pass, which lets you get in on a show and then follow it through to the end, be it the end of the series or just its cancellation.
You’re only actually able to use it, though, if you’re in on a participating cable provider’s plan, but you can take it with you most anywhere once you get through the entry restrictions. And now, there’s even some talk of expansion.
Seems that HBO is looking at your game systems–Xbox 360 and PS3 alike–as well as, ironically, your televisions (as long as they’re of the internet-capable variety) for future expansion, meaning that you’ll not only be able to get HBO in your home, but also on the road, and on the road in your home.
It almost seems a little unnecessary to bring HBO Go into home-based systems like game consoles, being as you actually have to be an HBO subscriber to get in, but it makes some sense in that you get immediate access to stuff you missed and older programs as well. So this probably isn’t a bad idea after all–a complete HBO archive in one place, along with some movies? Sounds good to me, really.
But what do you guys think? Do you like the thought of HBO Go on your home systems? Or can you find better things to watch without shelling out all that extra cash? Either way, we want to hear from you, so hit the comments section and tell us what you think!
