BlackBerry PlayBook Android App Support Not Expected To Arrive Until Late Fall
We saw the Android App Player for the BlackBerry PlayBook leak a short while back and at the time it did not seem like a priority to grab the leaked version. Well, flash forward till today and it now looks like those waiting to run Android apps on their PlayBook are going to be waiting a bit longer than originally expected.

Needless to say, if you need or want to run Android apps on your PlayBook anytime soon — you may want to find, download and install the currently available leaked version of the Android App Player. Anyway, according to the latest in the rumor mill — the launch of the Android App Player for the PlayBook has been pushed back till sometime in “late fall.”
And for those wondering, the support was originally expected to arrive sometime during the summer months. But just to clarify here, while this sounds bad, we should point out that we have yet to receive anything official from RIM. At this time the details are coming by way of the Engadget tech blog who have been speaking with a person they describe as a “reliable” source.
Bottom line here, while personally I really like the PlayBook — it still seems to be missing something. Oh yea, the apps. And honestly, I am not as fussy whether they come as native for the PlayBook or as already available (and ported over) Android apps — we just need something more. With that, we can only hope this report proves to be inaccurate and the launch arrives this summer as originally expected otherwise, we fear those still holding out any hope for the PlayBook will slip further away. And in the meantime, I did download that file when it leaked, however I did not install it because I figured it would arrive officially soon enough, now may be a good time to fire up the PlayBook and play with some Android apps.
