Samsung Issues Official Statement About Apple Dispute In Australia
Recent news revealed that Apple won an injunction against Samsung in Australia, effectively stopping the release of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the country. However, Samsung says there was never any injunction, and that both parties had a discussion and mutual agreement regarding the 10-inch Galaxy Tab’s fate in Australia.
Apple filed a complaint in Australian courts against the Galaxy Tab version that allegedly infringes upon its copyrights. But the injunction is completely false, Samsung reps say, as they’ve already settled with Apple, and have always planned to release a different version in Australia anyway.

“Apple Inc. filed a complaint with the Federal Court of Australia involving a Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 variant that Samsung Electronics had no plans of selling in Australia. No injunction was issued by the court and the parties in the case reached a mutual agreement which stipulates that the variant in question will not be sold in Australia.
A Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 for the Australian market will be released in the near future.
This undertaking does not affect any other Samsung smartphone or tablet available in the Australian market or other countries.
Samsung will continue to actively defend and protect our intellectual property to ensure our continued innovation and growth in the mobile communication business.”

As the friction between Apple and Samsung is old news, the real questions are – how different will the Australian version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 be, and when will it be released exactly? Those interested in the tablet are concerned they might get a version inferior in specs than the one that’s under fire from Apple’s complaints. And saying that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be launched in Australia “in the near future,” doesn’t really say anything at all.
