Namco Bandai Says It's Possible To Delete Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions Saves

Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions Saves Can Be Deleted By Pressing A Combination Of Buttons When You Boot Up The Game

Last week, Wired reported that it was impossible to delete saves and unlocked content from Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions on the 3DS, which was instantly reminiscent of the whole Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D permanent save debacle. This, of course, sent many people (including myself) up in arms, since it seems like the motivation behind making saves permanent is to combat used game sales.

Well, it appears that we all spoke too soon. As it turns out, you actually can delete saves from Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions, though this isn’t accomplished by any traditional means.

In order to delete your save file, Namco Bandai says you need to press “ABXYLR” when you fire up the game. Do this, and you’ll be starting over with a clean slate. “There has been a miscommunication at our level,” Namco Bandai said to Eurogamer. “Thanks for your understanding.”

It’s good to hear that permanent save files aren’t becoming a thing (at least not yet), but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the idea adopted by more publishers as time goes on. What do you think? Do you think publishers will start making save files permanent in order to stall used sales, or are you hoping publishers aren’t that greedy?
