OS X Lion Overcharges Being Refunded by Apple, As Expected [Multiple Charges for OS X Lion Now Refunded According to Multiple Reports]
Since Apple started selling OS X Lion via its Mac App Store (which is currently the only way to get it; well, at least legally) we’ve received various reports from customers that were charged more than once for their Lion purchase. But the one that takes the cake is from a guy that paid almost $4,000 for Lion after he was charged 122 times by Apple for his OS X 10.7 copy.

The Mac App Store worked in mysterious ways apparently, especially when it comes to charging for OS X Lion downloads, and Apple is yet to explain how those extra charges were even possible. But the good thing is that Apple has started refunding people the extra money they paid for Lion. In fact if you are one of the people affected by this Apple-made mass you should receive an email like the one in the screenshot above (in case you didn’t get it yet), advising you that your refund has been processed. It basically says that:
We are contacting you with regard to your pay service account, which due to an error was charged multiple times. We have identified and refunded the charges to the payment source. The funds should be available within 3-5 days.
The email doesn’t say anything about overdraft fees or any extra fees Lion buyers were faced with after paying for their new software more than once. Just to remind those that are still reluctant to upgrade, OS X Lion will cost you $29.99 when purchasing it from the Mac App Store, in case Apple will charge you only once for your Lion copy.
But what was the error? And has it been fixed yet? The date of the email above is July 30, so we’ll certainly appreciate your feedback again. Have you bought Lion at any point in the last two days? How many time were you charged for it?
