Amazon AppStore 1.15 Updated With Compatibility Checks & Stability Fixes [Amazon Updates Android AppStore With New Features to Keep Users & Developers Happy]

While Amazon has been having both wins and losses in the legal battle against Apple, it’s not forgetting its users and developers. The Amazon AppStore has recently been updated with stability fixes and a few new features that will make the marketplace more usable and user-friendly.

Amazon has scored a win in the US, as the courts have allowed it to operate, even with Apple claiming they own the “app store” name. In other markets, however, it looks like Amazon is not so lucky, with German developers being asked to stop submitting their apps. But regardless of these legal issues, Amazon is rolling out updates to its online Android application marketplace.

The latest version — 1.15 — introduces bug fixes and a few new features. Updates are as follows:

  • Improved search functionality, especially when initiating a search;
  • Improved application compatibility check, which comes in useful in light of the various Android devices out there;
  • Improved customer feedback mechanism;
  • Stability improvements.

Aside from the new features, version 1.15 also fixes a few things:

  • Periodic installation failure in Android 1.6 Donut;
  • Rotation issues
  • Force close on repeat-tapping on “refine” search button;
  • Search box bug

Amazon AppStore users should check for updates if the latest version is not already installed. Compatibility checking and feedback mechanisms have been a problem with the AppStore, and the developers thought of addressing this to appease both users and developers.
