Virgin Media Teases Spotify Pricing

Spotify On Virgin Media Will Be Priced "Significantly Less" Than A Stand-Alone Spotify Subscription

We learned that Virgin Media has partnered with Spotify back in early July and since then we have been left waiting for a bit more information. Mainly, we are curious to learn when the service will be launching and how much it is going to set users back.

And well, sadly we have yet to hear anything final and exact in regards to either of those points from Virgin Media, however they did come forward with a nice teaser in term of the pricing. Basically, Virgin Media CEO Neil Berkett has stated that the bundled-in Spotify service will be “significantly less” as compared to a regular stand-alone Spotify account. And in addition, he also commented that the price would be “very, very low.”

Given that, we do know that a regular Spotify account is priced at £4.99 per month for an Unlimited account and £9.99 per month for a Premium account. Of course, on the flip side, we are not sure exactly what his definition of significant and very, very low actually is.

And for those wondering why this seems to be taking so long to come available. After all, its been nearly a month since Virgin Media announced the deal with Spotify. Well, it seems as if they not only had to sign an agreement with Spotify, but also with each of the music labels. Taking that a step further, while the near month long wait seems like a while, Berkett also stated that this Spotify integration came as a result of an unlimited download service that they attempted to launch two years back.

That said, you can rest assured in knowing that the crew here at TFTS will let you know when you can start listening to your Spotify tracks on your Virgin Media branded TiVo boxes. And in the end, while we want to know the price and release date, it somehow feels like there are more details missing — like maybe there will only be one plan available as opposed to the two that Spotify currently offers.
