Sony Walkman A Series Revealed
UK-based retailer Play.com posted images of a Sony Walkman A-series device in its web site. In fact, it’s now available for pre-order in the UK with July 31, 2011 marked as release date. Earlier this July, the Walkman A-series passed through the FCC, indicating release in the United States sometime in the not-so-far future, as well.

What we know of the A-series thus far: it has Bluetooth connectivity, but no WiFi. And it’s also quite a bit expensive. We’re sure a lot of people would love to have a standalone player, but the prices ranging from $225 to $494 seem quite a bit steep to us. These figures were converted from Euros, however, and we’re yet to see final prices for countries outside Europe. A recent revelation to CNET by a source might partly explain those price points, though – the Sony Walkman A-series devices will sport a 3.4-inch OLED touchscreen display.

But the question is – do people care enough about expensive WiFi-less standalone players these days for the Sony Walkman A-series to sell well?
