Samsung To Unveil A “Major” Software Update For The Galaxy Tab 10.1 On August 3rd [Samsung To Hold An Open To The Public Event On August 3rd, Will Be Showing Off Galaxy Tab 10.1 Software Update]

Samsung has announced an upcoming event, and coming as a nice twist, this one is open to the public. Or from the way we are reading the invitation, the event is partially open to the public. That being said, the event is scheduled to take place at The Shops at Columbus Circle in New York on August 3rd.

According to the details provided, the event will be the “official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 major software update.” In terms of the update, here is what Samsung should be showing off;

Fully customizable Samsung TouchWiz UX with Live Panel and Mini Apps services
Re-designed Samsung Media Hub user interface
Amazon Music Cloud Player, Amazon Kindle & Words with Friends applications
Enterprise Mobile solutions

Otherwise, here is the breakdown for the event. Running from 11am till 1 pm is the Media News Conference which will include software demonstrations and onsite Galaxy Tab 10.1 software updates being performed. This portion appears to be by invitation only and for those who happen to have an invite, your lunch will be provided. And then coming after that, running from 1 pm till 6 pm is the open to the public part. During this session Samsung will be performing Galaxy Tab software updates.

That all being said, we sort of question the need for an event like this for a software update. But then again, there are two positives that we can see coming as a result. First, it sounds like a pretty convenient way to have your Galaxy Tab 10.1 updated. But perhaps a bit more appealing, announcing the software update with an event like this sounds like an almost guaranteed way to not see the release delayed. And lastly, while not yet mentioned, we suspect Samsung will also use this event to announce when those who are not attending the event can expect to receive the update.
