Oracle Caught Covering Up Their Approval Of Java Code Being Used For Android [Oracle Deletes 2007 Blog Post Sharing Love For Google's Use Of Java]

The ongoing saga between Oracle and Google takes another interesting turn as Oracle starts “shredding” digital evidence. They were already told by the judge to, for all practical purposes, go back to the drawing board.  What’s the judge going to think when blog posts containing evidence start going deleted?

Apparently back in 2007, when Android was a fledgling project, the CEO of Sun Microsystems was actually flattered that Java code was being used in the Android operating system because he wrote a blog post stating so. Here is some of what he wrote:

I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of others from Sun in offering my heartfelt congratulations to Google on the announcement of their new Java/Linux phone platform, Android. Congratulations!

Since the case is based on Google infringing on copyright concerning Android’s code including Java code, this type of information could prove to be important in the case. Recently the before-mentioned blog post has found to have been removed allegedly by Oracle,”covering up” the evidence of their approval of the use of the code. As it so happens, everything online is backed up and can come back to haunt, this time thanks to Wayback Machine’s caching of the article.
