Olympus Uncrates New Camera, The SP-810UZ
All right, camera buffs out there, I know you don’t get quite as much love out of your favorite companies as you used to since cameras started cropping up on tablets and smartphones and all sorts of portable devices. But rest assured, you have not been forgotten about, and the crew out at Olympus just brought out a nice new model for you to check out, the Olympus SP-810UZ.

The Olympus SP-810UZ is a basic compact camera, offering up a wide angle zoom lens with a surprisingly deep 36x zoom. You’ll also get a variety of other features like AF Tracking to keep your fast-moving subjects in frame as best you can, Dual Image Stabilization systems for a clean shot, the TruePic III+ image processing system (which, Olympus says, will actually take blurring almost entirely out of high-definition videos), a variety of filters to apply to your pictures for that special touch, 3D shooting, panorama shooting, an Intelligent Auto mode to keep your settings just right for the conditions, and support for the Eye-Fi SD card, which basically gives you infinite storage as long as you’re within range of a wi-fi connection as it automatically uploads its contents on a regular basis.
Last word out of Olympus suggested that these will be available starting in September, for the reasonable price of $330.
Looks like another pretty nice camera coming everybody’s way soon, a little late for summer vacation photography, but should be out in time to get some good shots of the kids playing in the leaves, not to mention the runup to Thanksgiving and Christmas and the like. Maybe a little expensive, but you will be getting a lot of good quality features in there, I’d say.
But what do you guys say? Does the Olympus SP-810UZ have the kind of shooting power you need at the price you want? Or is it distinctly lacking in some important way? Head on down to the comments section below, no matter what you think about this one, and let us know what you think!
