Apple Leasing More Office Space On West Side Of Cupertino [Apple Leases The Old Measurex Campus Temporarily As They Wait For Spaceship Campus To Be Built]
Apple’s fortunes and marketshare is expanding at a breakneck speed! And with it, their workforce. If you follow the world of Silicon Valley real estate, you know that Apple has been hiring new employees and looking to expand. They’re already planning to build a new wild-looking “Spaceship” campus north of the I-280 interstate. However, as a stopgap, Apple has leased some more corporate space on the far side of Cupertino in order to house employees as they continue to grow.

Apple’s temporary add-on facility will be the ‘Results Way Corporate Center’, which was formerly the campus of Measurex. Measurex was a computer company based in Cupertino that formerly made industrial computer equipment for the paper making industry before being gobbled up by international conglomerate Honeywell.
The Results Way Corporate Center is a long-chain of connected buildings, and Apple is leasing some 375,000 square feet of office space. The story was first reported by the San Jose Mercury News, and was later confirmed by the City of Cupertino.
Real estate experts say that the 375,000 square feet that Apple has leased is capable of hosting 1,300 employees. Still, that’s a small fraction of the 49,400 employees that Apple has under their banner worldwide.
Talking to the San Jose Mercury News, Kelly Kline, Cupertino’s economic development manager said:
This is good news for the city. Apple is the premier corporation in Cupertino.
“Premier corporation” apparently means “one that pays us the most” as Apple is the largest taxpayer in the city of Cupertino. Still, it’s a big win for that city. Silicon Valley is having something of a real estate crunch as companies like Apple, Facebook, Google, Zynga and others continue to expand and expand. The Valley doesn’t have room for many more of these huge campuses, and a few may have to look at leaving Silicon Valley, like the older tech giants HP and Intel did before them.
