Samsung Readies Launch of Galaxy R
A video demo of the Samsung Galaxy R suggests imminent announcement of the device. Also known as the Galaxy Z, the phone was originally slated for release in the UK back in June. That is until Samsung pulled the plug on the UK launch. But this time, the source says Samsung’s finally ready to send the company’s new baby out into the world starting with European countries.

After Europe, the Galaxy R will land on the Middle East and the rest of Southwest Asia, as well as China. You might remember the Galaxy R as Samsung’s cheaper version of the Galaxy S II, making it a great handset for emerging markets. As it will be sold at a lower price than its more expensive sibling, it will also feature lower-end specs such as a 4.2-inch Super LCD screen as opposed to S II‘s more expensive Super AMOLED Plus display, a 5MP camera as opposed to S II’s 8MP, and 8GB internal memory as opposed to S II’s 16GB and 32GB internal memory options.
No official word from Samsung yet, but we’ll update you on dates and prices as they’re announced.
