Samsung Galaxy S II Coming To Verizon First, Says Analyst Intel

We just saw leaked images of it a few hours ago thanks to our own Robert Nelson, but the release was still something of a mystery, up until now. The word is making the rounds now that, if you’re looking to lay hands on a Galaxy S II, you’ll need to start staking out Verizon stores for starters.

While the actual launch date is still shrouded in mystery, word from analyst Paul Mueller says that Verizon will be getting these first, and enjoy about a month in which they’re the only carrier to have them. What’s more, while there is no launch date as yet, Mueller’s word further says that the devices will be available “extremely soon”. How extremely soon, you wonder? How does mid-August strike you?

Here’s the kicker; the current word says that Samsung will actually be marketing the Galaxy S II against the iPhone 5, which provides even more support to the current theory that says the iPhone will be coming out at some point in September.

If Samsung really does want to take on the iPhone 5 directly with the Galaxy S II (at least in the United States), then indeed, it would have to be coming out at approximately the same time, otherwise it wouldn’t be competing directly so much as it would be competing alongside. Some have even suggested that the launch date on the Galaxy S II would prove to be August 12th, which is right in line with earlier projections we’d advanced.

Whether or not any of this actually comes out as projected remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure; the next couple months promise to be terribly eventful, and I’m definitely looking forward to it. Hopefully we’ll kick off the big new gadget season with a good old fashioned cell phone slugfest between rivals Apple and Android, which may well be personified by the Galaxy S II. Lawsuits aside, this ought to be great.
