New iPhone 4S/5 Specs & Features Suggested by Leaked Case Designs [Bigger Edge-to-edge Touchscreen Display & iPad 2-Like Curved Back to be Among the Characteristics of Fifth-gen iPhone?]
The iPhone 4S/5 is one of the most expected handsets of the year, with more and more reports suggesting that Apple will launch it at some point in the following months. Even Cupertino confirmed that its fourth quarter of fiscal year 2011 would show a slight drop in revenue (compared with Q3 FY 2011) as a direct result of an important product refresh, the iPhone 4S/5.

Today, with more than a month to go until the fifth-gen iPhone becomes official we get to look at a new iPhone 4S/5 wannabe cases. These aren’t the first leaked cases of an iDevice we get to see before the actual announcement of the new product, so one may say we’ve been expecting such designs to hit the presses. And while we can’t confirm their authenticity, and I doubt Apple will point us in the right direction here, this new cases featured by MobileFun shows us various specs and features of the new phone.

There are obvious design changes that would set this iPhone apart from its predecessors: the bigger edge-to-edge display, featured before in various rumors and expected to be anywhere from 3.7- to 4-inch, the larger home button that could offer gestures-based interaction and a curved back that would make the iPhone 4S/5 look like the current iPad 2.
We also notice that camera on the back of the device is paired with a single flash located in the vicinity of the shooter. Previous leaks suggested that the back camera and the flash won’t be placed on the same side and that the next-gen Apple smartphone will feature dual LED flash support. Other rumors also said the next iPhone could sport a 3D camera on the back, but today’s leaked cases aren’t about to back-up such 3D claims.

What’s even more interesting is the placement of the microSIM slot (see the first case), somewhat lower than on the iPhone 4. And for whatever reason the microSIM slot is accessible via the first case whereas regular iPhone 4 cases and bumpers tend to cover it altogether.
We’ll be back with more news regarding the iPhone 4S/5 in the future, but in the mean time we invite you to vote on our iPhone poll: iPhone 5 vs iPhone 4S: What’s your next iPhone?
