iPod touch 5G 3G Support Confirmed by Apple’s Poor Photshopping Skills?
We have talked about the next-gen iPod touch, the iPod touch 5G, a couple of times already, and we specifically referred to new rumors that were saying Apple is going to bring 3G support to its fifth-generation MP3 player. Today we may have some actual confirmation from Apple regarding this matter as the company may have inadvertently revealed its iPod touch 5G 3G plans.

Now before we dive into Apple’s photoshopping skills let’s make one thing clear, iPod touch 5G 3G sounds very strange, so what does “5G” and “3G” refer too? 5G stands in this case for generation, so we’re looking at the fifth-generation iPod touch, while 3G stands for actual 3G data connectivity. In other words the iPod touch 5G has 3G support whereas the iPod touch 3G doesn’t come with such powers.
Moving on to Apple’s official site, the iTunes section in particular, you will notice a nice image featuring the iPod touch, the iPad 2 and the MacBook Air (available below). Focusing on the iPod touch 4G you’ll notice that, on the top left corner, it has Wi-Fi turned on but no 3G support. That’s what one would expect from the iPod touch 4G. But the image you’re looking at now has replaced the initial image that Apple used (and which we have featured above). In it we can easily notice 3G signal bars on the iPod touch, which means the device in question would have to be an iPod touch 5G.

So there are two possibilities, either Apple jumped the gun and posted an iPod touch 5G press image on its official website, or we’re looking at a photoshopping mistake suggesting that someone over at Apple’s headquarters needs an extra shot of coffee to differentiate between iPod touch and iPhone screenshots. Or could it be that an extra third-party edited the image to create some buzz?
